VO

66 stakeholders, 1 shared vision

Project description

How can 66 stakeholders with different perspectives agree on a shared vision for the future of New Genomic Techniques in just one day? When the Federal Public Service for Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment wanted to better understand needs and concerns around New Genomic Techniques (NGTs), they faced a major challenge: gathering insights from 66 stakeholders with diverse – and sometimes conflicting – perspectives.

VO Lab designed and facilitated a tailor-made Lab Dialogue to make this possible. The session brought together scientists, policymakers, industry representatives, and civil society actors around three key themes: risk assessment, traceability and labeling, and sustainability and innovation.

This approach moved beyond positions to focus on shared needs, fostering respectful exchanges and collaborative problem-solving – even on sensitive topics.

Result

A clear multi-perspective framework reflecting real-world concerns of all parties that can guide future policy discussions around NGTs. The Lab Dialogue methodology transformed complexity into actionable consensus.
